We’ve noticed London Warehouse Events is on quite the roll of late, bringing some of the best names in dance music to a variety of distinctly London venues across our fair urban city, always with a rough and ready to rave vibe.
This time the party comes from 2020Vision, the respected UK label run by Ralph Lawson, who made his way from a long and dedicated residency at Leeds’ Back to Basics club to a global touring circuit which included the cream of the New York scene plus sure stamps of approval like Berlin’s Berghain, Watergate and Spain’s Sonar. From his base in Leeds Lawson has spread the 2020 vision across the UK and the globe, landing in London’s Hackney Wick on Sunday the 25th of May as part of the bank holiday weekend – so there’s no reason at all to stay in on a Sunday!
The idea is a day and night party which kicks off at 3pm and carries across until 6am – covering the best both the day and the night vibe, with Lawson playing a set across both. The outdoor terrace will be all about summer sounds, street food and the sunny disco house of PBR Streetgang, but sonics and sentiment will get deeper as the sun falls and punters trickle inside.
Continuing the theme of British dance music heroes, Greg Wilson will be in the house, with his traditional santa sack of unique edits and forgotten gems. One of the influential players of the 80s funk scene, Wilson disappeared on us all for twenty long years, before returning to the music game with a lauded re-edits compilation. He’s been bringing the funk and disco back into our lives through a solid touring schedule ever since and has become one of the most loved DJs of the UK.
Two far more recent but equally vibrant acts are also involved this Sunday, with Citizen and Psychemagik also on the bill. Both acts have gained initial recognition through their creative productions and will be sure to turn that quality style and keen ear to their sets.
We can think of worse ways to spend a Sunday…
