Master Sounds – Audio Accessories for the Vinyl Enthusiast. Win a pair with MEOKO!

By Competitions, Hot Off The Press, MEOKO Presents

Ryan Shaw has been collecting and spinning records for over 20 years now. A former resident at Back to Basics and 2020 Vision Presents, as well as having spent time working behind the counter at both Playmusic in Leeds and Phonica in London – he understands the importance of having your turntables set up right. With this in mind, he’s developed a product that helps greatly improve sound quality whilst remaining both affordable and portable, and his idea has been pricking up the ears of vinyl enthusiasts worldwide.

521918 10152774241245651 1542918110 n

It’s a surprisingly simple concept. The ‘Master Sounds’ weights are placed on top of the spindle, adding 390 grammes on top of the vinyl record. This reduces vibration which as a result improves both the bass response, as well as the mid range and high frequencies. Not only the sound quality is improved; they also reduce needle skips, meaning you can stop sticking blue-tac and loose change on top of your styluses (something that not only wrecks your needles but also your records). The weights are perfect for playing at a bar, club or even just at home… and they work equally well on belt drive turntables!

1012493 503249639769553 435677273 n

These versatile little weights not only do wonders for the dynamics of your music, they also look the part. Each high quality, aluminium piece is handmade in England, limited to 100 per colourway and comes in a velvet effect drawstring bag with an individually numbered label. They’re popping up more and more frequently in clubs worldwide, with Metro Area’s Darshan Jesrani swearing by them in his testimonial, as well as Jamie Jones, DJ Harvey, Mr C, Rahaan, PBR Streetgang and many more spotted making use of them! We can’t get enough of them, either…

MEOKO Presents Hidden Treasures – Introducing Dancing Leopard

By Competitions, Hidden Treasures, Hot Off The Press, MEOKO Presents

hiddentreasures banner

MEOKO has been digging deep to bring you the best in up and coming brands and designers for the coolest unique creations out there. Each brand representing positivity, creativity and a fun and friendly vibe, to tie in with what we stand for here at MEOKO. Over the coming weeks we’ll be presenting some our favourites, as well as some fresh undiscovered talents for you to feast your eyes over.

Our latest Hidden Treasure is the roaring Dancing Leopard, a fashion brand drawing its inspiration from Indian’s Sari style, Ibiza music culture and the Hippie movement. Lets instil an atmosphere of farniente in our nightclubs and firmly break our (almost) grey horizon with a colourful floating Boho.

The sourcing and production of Dancing Leopard was in a small family factory in Delhi in respect of the Fair Trade Market. The designer stayed there for 6 months to work on the production and came back to London and Ibiza to spread the good look among the trendy population. Bohos, Kimonos and other silky and aerial creations are all made in colourful prints chosen among Delhi Market materials.

Dancing Leopard samples the cultures and hybridizes our fashion by making it completely versatile, colourful and exotic.  You can find Dancing Leopard’s products in underground markets places such as the wicked Sunday Upmarket.

Win 4 tickets to see Clockwork at Village Underground

By Competitions, Hot Off The Press, MEOKO Presents

clockwork comp
2011 saw the birth of the Italian duo, Clockwork, when they graced us with their first EP on the Hot Creations label, “It’s You Again“. This release set the tone for things to come with their combination of melodic baselines and enchanting vocal. But, we were left in anticipation, wondering what was next from Francesco and Federico. The answer is: B.O.A.T.S. (Based On A True Story).

clockwork boats

Released on the Life and Death label, this 13 track LP invites us into the realm that is Clockwork. The word ‘journey’ is often misused when describing a piece of music or a DJ set, but not in this case. Track one, entitled “First Floor” is the start of the voyage; a dubby masterpiece that welcomes you into the evolution of the pair, leaving you almost in a state of waiting with a bass reminiscent of a heartbeat through a stethoscope. ‘Places‘ is a departure from this, with an insight into their past. Their use of a siren-like floaty vocal, accompanied a traditional break drum rack lifts the air and prepares you for the next stage. As you make your way through each track they manage to elevate you further with a display of their diverse production profile. The LP has been constructed in such a way that that it plays as if it were a live set, gradually building BPMs and then bringing you down again. Through to the epic close of “One Way Ticket“; B.O.A.T.S draws a line in the sand, redefining what we knew as Clockwork.

Saturday 17th August sees the two touch down in London with another edition of Village Underground Presents. As the evening daylight is still on our side, what better way than to start proceedings before the night falls on us. Privileged to an extended set and accompanied by the sounds of Colin Chidle, Jack & I (Art of Dark) and Niksey (Lokee), the exposed brickwork of the venue is set to be warmed through to the rafters with a crafted display throughout the night. With B.O.A.T.S as a blueprint for the night, we feel nothing but excitement in anticipation for what is in store.

We are offering the chance for you to win 4 free tickets to join us on a journey with Clockwork. Email us at with B.O.A.T.S as the subject, followed by your full name in the message. All the best, and hope to see you on the night… Good Luck!

Good Tunes for a Good Cause: EDGE w/ Binh & Dan Farserelli

By Hot Off The Press, MEOKO Presents, News

edge charity banner

It’s relatively rare to see the underground party business galvanized by a political or ethical cause, not because promoters are greedy or indifferent, but often it is preferred to leave behind the ideals and save the dancefloor for the music and the vibes. This has certainly changed, however, when it comes to raising money and awareness for a pretty heart-wrenching foundation, The Stacey Mowle Appeal.

Screen shot 2013-07-17 at 11.51.06

Saturday 3rd August sees underground techno party-people EDGE throw a special charity event at Bar-a-bar in Stoke Newington in aid of the appeal, which is raising money for a young girl – Stacey Mowle – who is battling Neuroblastoma Stage 4, an extremely rare form of cancer. The cost of her treatment, which she needs to have in the US, is an enormous £500,000. But with help from promoters like EDGE, and so many other people who are putting on fundraising events, getting together that amount of money is hopefully achievable. It’s obviously an incredible cause to donate to, and an undeniable reason to get down on the 3rd of August.

If your cold heart is still not persuaded, then perhaps the fact that EDGE have got the Club der Visionaere resident Binh, whose minimalist sound is synonymous with the sonic movements of Berlin right now, topping the bill. Alongside him on the line up is Dan Farserelli, OdD, and residents Ian Grimwood & Jimmy Reckless.

Listen to Binh’s mix for MEOKO below

Street Feast Presents The Truck Stop!

By Festival, Hot Off The Press, MEOKO Presents, Reviews

The team behind Street Feast – the moving street feast event that serves up to 3000 visitors per night when they opening their stalls and trucks around east London warehouses, car parks and other open air spaces – has raised the bar (again) when it comes to serving up great street food. Pairing up with Tweat Up – another open air eatery organisation – they are now presenting the largest ever gathering of food tucks in East London, all with an American twist – The Truck Stop!

There is two things the colourful and bold Americans are especially famous for; their food and their cars, and this week you have the chance to experience them both first hand right here in East London.  Wood Wharf will be transformed in to a mecca for foodies during the evenings of Thursday and Friday the 4th & 5th of July.  The open space just by the river side will host new home for the “festival food” inspired event -previously held at the Merchant Yard.

 Dom ScreenShot20130621at124359 1

The mouth-watering food on offer at The Truck Stop event has influences from all over the world and the pop-up roadside diner will have top-notch chefs cooking up set supper-club menus. If you don’t fancy a full meal, you can grab a “walk- and-talk” serving from the Rotary Smoke barbecue pit or the taco shack.  There will be grilled BBQ Ribs, bangers, burgers, gourmet balls and even sushi to mention a few of the deliciousness on the menus. The 20 food trucks (that has been sourced from all over the UK) and The Truck Stop will feed your appetite on all things food and American. The Rotary Bar will supply the drinking hole with a craft-beer and cocktail bar, and here the cocktails are American styled, meaning pint-sized – and trough Camden Town brewery you can even pre-order your own 50-pint keg of beer that will trench the thirst for up to 15 friends and cost only £200 (bring some red plastic cups and you have your own High-School house party!). Here nothing is done by half measures…and there is whispers that somewhere within the stalls there is a secret gin bar serving up the finest in gin based drinks!

 316263 523731061016364 1400311871 n

And even though food and drinks is the big crowd puller at the The Truck Stop, there is more things on offer…There will be live music, Dj’s and a large scale showcase of classic American Cars and trucks, so even though most of the food trucks offers a show by them self by their quirky decorations- there will be even more for your eyes to feast on and great music for your feet to move to.

The Truck stop and its food trucks will all be serving up their homemade grub from 5pm until 11pm on both nights, Tickets are £10 (online advanced bookings) and your ticket will provide you with 10 “Truck Stop dollars” to spend at the Rotary Bar on cocktails or beers.

OneMore presents: DVS1 & Sonja Moonear. Win 3 VIP guest passes!

By Competitions, Hot Off The Press, MEOKO Presents

Since 2010, London promoters OneMore have been throwing parties featuring some of the world’s most talented selectors. Everyone from System of Survival to Pan-Pot has been called upon to educate the techno-hungry London crowds, and their next event on the 29th June is set to be just as special as they welcome DVS1 and Sonja Moonear to The Scala.

When Ben Klock and Derrick May refer to someone as ‘the next big thing’, people pay attention. And rightly so – everything DVS1 has released thus far is of the highest calibre, and understandably has been snapped up by some of the industry’s most exalted imprints, including Klockworks and Blueprint. His stripped down slant on the genre has been shaking the foundations of clubs worldwide for years now, and we’re positive the 29th will be no different. Joining him is Sonja Moonear, who exploded onto the scene with her expressive brand of deep, minimal tech house, playing marathon b2b sets alongside Ricardo Villalobos that have been causing a real stir in the underground scene of late.

Take a look at this footage from the last event and you can start to understand why this really isn’t one to miss…

In anticipation for this next party, MEOKO have teamed up with OneMore to offer one of you the chance to win 3 VIP guest passes to the event! To get your hands on them, all you have to do is email us at with GimmeOneMore followed by your name. The winner will be announced on the 26th June! Good luck…
