Purple Inc. is back again for their second intimate party of the season. To keep to the true spirit of underground, they move from their last party at Hoxton to Trapeze Basement, which is another equally exciting venue in East London. It’s safe to say that Purple Inc. has managed to keep a Berlinesque feel to their parties, largely in part due to these dark, intimate underground venues, which is a perfect occasion for the start of the wintery season. Of course let’s not forget the music, which is equally, if not more important for underground dance music events.
BirdsMakingMachine (Dj Set)
The founder of BirdsMakingMachine himself will be headlining the party and will be representing the collective of “wandering artists” that he so passionately started. Argentinian born Rudolf is renowned world wide not only for his collective, but his productions (Archipel, Half Baked Records, Nervmusic Records, Serialism) and sets. He blends Latin American sounds, jazz and even swing with his (live) minimalistic techno sets. Although he will not playing live this time, his DJ set alone is enough to entice dance music fans to flock on over to the basement this Saturday.
(B.a.r.e, Yoruba Grooves)
London based DJ, Leroy Roberts plays for some of the city’s most exciting parties, such as Half Baked, Toast Underground, Fabric’s Wet Yourself and of course, Purple Inc.
Demika is an active member of London’s dance music scene, where she has been the leading figure in some of the city’s parties and initiatives. She is a co-owner and A&R at Limited Records, a co-founder and resident DJ at Femmes Fatales London, and part of the Inderground crew.
(Purple Inc. Act Natural)
Members of the Purple Inc group, producers and DJs, Dubbtone & Tileff will be sure to play their deep funky grooves for their closing set this Saturday. Expect some fresh productions exclusively for this event.
Representing a nice line up, with Birdsmakingmachine headlining, Purple Inc., which just started a year ago, is steadily but surely, growing to become one of East London’s most well-repsected underground parties. They have even started a most impressive, yet simple initiative: A “Free before midnight” policy for those on the guest list. And by guest list, they mean sending your names to their e-mail address, firstname.lastname@example.org
This initiative is brilliant for many reasons, not just for the organisers themselves, but for the DJs and party organisers too. We all know that London is expensive, and this party is perfect for those who’d like to save a bit extra so as not to struggle during the week with London’s overpriced transport and groceries. Last entrance is at 1am, which makes sense considering that the headliner will play before 1am, and the council isn’t too keen on letting venues stay open too late anyway.
Even though Trapeze Basement is right in the middle of Shoreditch’s jungle of frat boys and co., Purple Inc. is sure to maintain the spirit of underground alive by giving priority to those on the guest list.
Purple Inc. adapts to the conditions that have restricted so many parties in the past, and comes up with simple yet innovative ways to make a good party for not just themselves, but everyone involved, right in the heart of East London. Convenience, proper underground music, and good vibes are what to expect for this Saturday’s basement session.
