When it comes to electronic dance music, London is one of the most vibrant areas in the world. Each weekend there are roughly 40 events topping the event listings on RA and the city is being overrun by the ‘crème de la crème’ of underground music. Hence, you could ask yourself “is there anything we still miss in London?”
Despite the overwhelm of promoters, venues and events there is a lack of conferences and workshops, where people who work in the industry or whom simply just love electronic music can gather and talk about their shared passion.
Room 44 is a joint project with the intention to enhance knowledge about the music industry and all its facets, including business, technology, club culture and more. Room 44 is a new musical, cultural and an industry-networking platform based in London, powered by contributors Half Baked and MEOKO.
The aim is to discuss and share ideas about music, technology, culture, industry knowledge, analogue systems, new technology as well as a host of other facets. To encourage creativity through guidance from artists we have held in high esteem for years. The opportunity to interact with our guests through Q & A’s at the end of each session is given to our audience. Every session will differ, there are, after all, no boundaries in music.
Room 44 launches on the 10th of June at the award-winning venue Number 90 in Hackney Wick and invites Detroit legend and connoisseur Mike Huckaby for a special workshop.
Mike Huckaby: Tastemaker, Educator, Sound Designer and Motor City Proponent has done much for Detroit electronic music and can be seen as a pioneer of the Detroit sound. The man has certainly earned his due as a DJ and honourable producer. In the past few years he has become the busiest remixer from Detroit, with highly acclaimed deep house productions and remixes for Deepchord, Juan Atkins, Loco Dice and LoSoul (just a mere selection). Mike Huckaby has been touring, turn tabling and teaching music production with Native Instruments software at Youthville, a privately funded organization for students between the ages of 11-19.
For this special occasion, Room 44 brings Mike Huckaby to London for an evening workshop at Number 90 in Hackney Wick. Mike will demonstrate his knowledge about the Maschine 2.0 hardware controllers and its software, give feedback and answer a variety of the audience’s questions. Mike prefers to give these kinds of workshops in a small and intimate setting, therefore Room 44 have a limited amount of only 8 tickets available. Don’t sleep on it.
