One Illusion London presents NY Stomp aka Gerd / Adam Shelton / Tom Craven / Bloody Mary & more – Win Vinyl & Tickets

By Competitions, Hot Off The Press, MEOKO Exclusive, MEOKO Presents

This competition is now closed.

With Summer definitively over, it’s time to start looking ahead to a Winter of top quality clubbing. Two camps holding this exact sentiment to heart are One Records and Illusion Recordings, both leading the way as the UK’s brightest house music labels. To commence the brand new season in true four-to-the-floor fashion, the Birmingham and Leeds based imprints will be throwing a one-off collaborative event in East London, not dissimilar to their popular parties in Barcelona during this summer’s Sonar-Off.

Adam-Shelton-954x798 copy

As ever, respective head-honchos Adam Shelton, Tom Craven and James Cotterill will provide the necessary support, while the prime headline slot will be filled by none other than NY Stomp AKA Gerd. As the auteur of that groundbreaking EP on Illusion in January this year, this will be a really special opportunity to see the Dutch master at work, in a guise he only very rarely adopts. French-born DJ Bloody Mary will also feature, bringing her heady cocktail of thick basslines and sultry, twisted vocals to the dance. The chosen venue is victorian Vaults with a capacity of only 300, making this intimate space the one and only way to get properly into that Winter groove.

 Exclusive Bloody Mary Podcast

Doors open at 11pm on October 13 and close at 06am. Tickets are available online now for £12.

To commemorate this meeting of minds on UK soil, MEOKO have teamed up with the two labels to provide ONE lucky winner with the chance to win 2 tickets to the event plus a vinyl copy of both the brand new One Records release AND the brand new Illusion Recordings release PLUS One Records T-Shirts. All you have to do is answer this very simple question:

By Competitions, Hot Off The Press

This Competition is now closed.

Good news or bad? On the one hand, London party boys Spilt Milk are regretfully having to tie-up yet another successful season of events, their third in the business. The good news however, is that they’re entitled to one last throw of the dice before the candles officially go out for 2012. Oh, and Rekids boss Matt Edwards, AKA Radio Slave, has very kindly agreed to lend a helping hand. To be held at new-found home The Diary in Central London, the all day, 11 hour event will also feature Spilt Milk resident and Leftroom affiliate Marc Ashken, alongside resident dj and founder Tred Benedict.

Providing the backbone for the marathon outdoor affair will be Spilt Milk’s indefatigably trustworthy Funktion 1 system, which has helped set the tone for a summer of showstopping parties. Independent events, alongside collaborations with Louche and mumu, have seen the likes of Lauhaus, Sammy Dee, Zip and Margaret Dygas doing their thing for Spilt Milk in the capital, recalling a plethora of mind-bending performances. With a series of very special guests still yet to be announced (the only clue is that they’re from Berlin; you’ll have to wait for the day of the party to find out), Sunday is shaping up to be one hell of a final blowout.

Ricardo Villalobos, ZIP & Tama Sumo at Mint Warehouse – Win Tickets

By Competitions, Festival, Hot Off The Press

This competition is now closed.

Every August bank holiday is always the same. So many parties and festivals to choose from, yet so little time to fit them all in. Making this year’s conundrum that little bit easier, MEOKO has highlighted what seems to be one of the finest underground lineups this side of Berlin…

System and Louche are joining forces to present Ricardo Villalobos, Zip and Tama Sumo in an all day and night session at the Mint Warehouse in Leeds. Needing very little introduction, there are few DJ’s who have made an impact on the scene like Ricardo Villalobos. His truly unique and experimental style as both a producer and DJ have seen him clock up more air miles than Richard Branson, satisfying each and every dancefloor along the way, ensuring all witnesses leave wanting more. His mysterious personality and sound work hand in hand to

From one pioneer to another, Zip is responsible for establishing and managing Perlon, one of the most cutting edge and well respected underground record labels in the world. A vinyl-only label releasing beautiful music and helping to further the careers of luminaries such as Cassy, Baby Ford, Akufen, Thomas Melchior, Margaret Dygas, Matt John and Ricardo Villalobos himself. Besides Perlon, Zip is also known for absolutely legendary DJ sets encompassing the very finest in deep micro house and pulsating minimal techno.

Tama Sumo completes the lineup alongside the fantastic System and Louche residents. With the accolade of being resident DJ at Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin, Tama Sumo’s dry but funky take on all things house and techno have seen her amass quite a following. Not scared to infiltrate acid, electro and disco into her quality sets…whether the tracks are old or new, house and techno has never sounded so fresh.

For a chance to win x4 tickets for you and three friends to see Ricardo Villalobos, Zip and Tama Sumo at Mint Warehouse on Sunday 26th August simply email hello_competitions@devmeoko.co.uk with ‘Mint’ in the subject title.
