Gala is one of London’s top day festivals that has been running since 2016 featuring some of the top global techno/house artists and up and coming UK talent. Usually landing on the second bank holiday in May, everyone flocks to South London, in the corner of Peckham Rye Park. Each year the festival went from strength to strength and grew in popularity so for the very first time, Gala was going to extend the event to two days. With the cancellation of this beloved event, we were hopeful to see its return in 2021 and luckily, with a slight delay, Gala returns in all its glory August bank holiday, July 31st & August 1st.
With all the 2020 tickets rolled over, this made it near impossible to get your hands on a 2021 weekend ticket. In fact, 40,000 people registered to buy a ticket out of the 8,000 that were sold! With all this demand, a third day was announced, promising a more laid-back approach of live artists, food and London’s favourite dance & soul music and that is just what they delivered.
The line up for July 30th kicks off with Rhythm Section founder and London legend, Bradley Zero to Joy Orbison for some old school jungle. Sticking with the local South London vibes, there will be Rye Wax DJ’s, and topping it off with Zakia and Moxie for some true DJ goddesses. This line up has a diverse mix of funky house and electronic dance and that’s just the DJ sets. Combine that with the live performances form Wayne Snow, Oscar Jerome, Alfa Mist, Tirzah, and Poppy Ajusha, you can’t go wrong.
This will be a fantastic prequel to the main bank holiday festival. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 am via Resident Advisor. Don’t miss out!
