We all love a good film. A trip to the cinema has been a much-loved tradition even before the talkies, but in recent times we’d have to admit the cinema experience isn’t quite what it used to be. Enter The Second Chance Cinema, which aims to change all that, providing a luxurious and traditional cinematic experience to watch new releases that you might have just missed in the large cinema chains.
The Second Chance Cinema has claimed Bethnal Green Town Hall for its venue; an alternative and beautiful building built in the 1920s Edwardian Art Deco phase, which makes the whole experience feel just a little bit grand. The council chamber is transformed into a screening room for the Second Chance events, with curved and tiered seating allowing for everyone to have a perfect view of the screen.
The Second Chance Cinema offers more than just an interesting space, however, as your ticket also includes all manner of refreshments and service. All cinema-goers will be offered an array of ‘Posh Popcorn’ plus chocolate cigarettes by a 1950s styled usherette, so it’ll feel just like the good old cinema days, only more chocolaty. If you purchase the ticket which includes a meal, you will be served with a gourmet Cinema Taster Box with meat, fish and vegetarian options, prepared by award winning chefs and a big step up from Maltesers and a melting choc top.
Delicious cocktails will be served from the stylishly lit anti-chamber, an excellent place to begin your evening with a bit of socialising, before all present are captivated by the screen.
Screenings kicked off this week with James McAvoy in Filth, and coming up in March there is the adrenalin fuelled Rush and the award winning edge-of-your-seat Gravity. April screenings will include Captain Phillips, Nebraska, Philomena and About Time, but don’t wait to get tickets because they are selling out fast.
You know we love to give away a good freebie at MEOKO, and so are offering our readers the chance to win two free tickets to any screening of their choice! Email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject ‘The Second Chance Cinema’ and tell us your favourite cinema food.
Anyone can watch a movie from the comfort of your couch; it takes more than just a big screen to get us out to the pictures, it takes an experience. This is what The Second Chance Cinema provides.
