Electric Minds collaboration with Broken & Uneven, turned out to be one of the country’s best purveyors of incredible parties and they launch into 2013 with their first massive night this Saturday. They’ve got a wonderful calendar of events this year, beginning with a Dimensions Festival Warm-Up Party, which is headlined by whom many consider one of best house producer’s on the planet right now, Motor City Drum Ensemble, and also featuring the melodically articulated Efdemin.

Motor City Drum Ensemble

When Danilo Plessow’s parents handed him a pair of drumsticks aged 6, they probably had no idea what they were releasing on the world.  From there he discovered a love for jazz within a school band, and from the tender age of 11 began creating his own music with a computer and samples.  It’s perhaps this range of experience and love of genres that allow MCDE to create such diversely crowd pleasing music, classic styles stamped with his own unique signature, thanks to his love of soul, jazz, hip hop and house. After acclaimed releases on Pulver Records under his own House project Inverse Cinematics, and many other collaborations, remixes, and compilations, Danilo founded Motor City Drum Ensemble. 2008 began the now infamous Raw Cuts series launched on his own MCDE label, making waves of originality within the deep house genre, and since then he’s only gone on to perfect his flavour for an ever-expanding musical exposition of style and tastes. From his own productions to his famous remixes (see the remix of NUfrequency’s ‘Fallen Hero’) he never fails to amaze, and attending one of his sets is inevitably signing up for a master class in musical wizardry, yet with compulsive dancing.

His recent EP ‘Send A Prayer’ has been received with some serious praise for its tracks that rise with delicious bass, building and carrying the listener, much like his sets that include an encyclopedic knowledge of house and techno, heightened by his unique soulful twist. Listening to MCDE’s now infamous Boiler Room Session explains why this is a night not to be missed…

The night is also completed by the distilled techno and deep house sounds of Efdemin. Often described as one of Hamburg’s finest exports, this is a man who needs little introduction to true lovers of techno and house. Once a resident of Panorama Bar, and also previously named Resident Advisor’s producer of the year, Efdemin (real name Phillip Sollman) continues to fill dance floors with his ingenious music. Back in 2007 he released his self-titled debut that earnt him producer of the year, and the high accolade from RA that the record was “tailor-made for that lovely place between dancing and dreaming”. His style developed with his ‘Carry on, Pretend Were Not in The Room’ mix release, a panoramic range of expertly selected music, that made the release almost undefinable in genre yet always incredible in deliverance. A DJ and producer who always proves exciting and imaginative, playing what he feels rather than the given trend of the time, as heard here in his latest mix of edgy house:
