As a newcomer to ambient side of things, this mix was a heavy initiation into a world that I have always been quick to dismiss. After settling through the preliminary shock of music without firmly graspable elements, this mix slowly locks you in, like a boa tightening on its catch. Travelling from underground, zion-esque cave sounds to windy, fluffier feels, each minute of this journey is vast in the stereo image and paints thick and swelling landscapes. There is beautiful and subtle shifting of energies throughout this whole hour, shimmering like interstellar at times with magnificent synths yet delving into darker corners too, seeping with tension and disharmony.
