With the summer’s close on the horizon for everyone in the northern hemisphere, many are preparing for the incoming darker and colder months by stocking up on winter clothes, but the Parisian crew over at Karat Records have put together a six hour maritime affair for our French friends across the pond. A stellar line up boasting Sammy Dee, Baby Ford, MZKBX and Nicolas Lutz and Jay Daniel. Quality through and through.
Jay Daniel, who has found a home on Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature label and recently put his spin on Four Tet’s “Aerial”, weighs in with the Detroit sound. DeepChord, Echospace will also be in appearance showing off their live vintage analogue heavy sound during the trip down the Seine. The boat will set sail from St. Bernard along the river in a boat named, River’s King.
The Katapult parties have been running since 2001 and brought for the first time some of today’s most sought-after DJs to Paris like Villalobos, Zip, Luciano and Move D and their ethos to seek out the upcoming underground talent is still as consistent as ever.
With an open-minded and simple philosophy, the label’s power couple Alex and Laetitia Katapult have forged friendships over their extended careers which has seen them be invited to play alongside some heavyweights which is testament to their prowess as mainstay DJs themselves.
They will play as the sole support act to good friend Villalobos this Friday in part 1 of 2 Mercredi Production parties at Cabaret Sauvage. On the Saturday heavyweights Ben Klock, Steffi and Marcel Fengler all feature on the billing. Alex and Laetitia have done it all, from opening (and closing) a record store, running a label-cum-booking agency as well as cementing their position as mainstay DJs in the French underground scene. So they sure know how to run a party, in our eyes. Expect a mixture of genres to wrap up what has been a terrific summer season of parties on and off shore.
