DJ Steaw, a firm favourite of MEOKO has put together a list of his TOP Five Studio Essentials.
1) TR 909
This Drumbox is essential for the production of house music. The
groove of this machine is devastating and the sound of each elements
is very effective on a big sound system. It has been used for a decade
but is still keeping new. I never get tired!!
2) Akai mpc
This machine is useful for those who use samples of music. Very
powerful and very complete, it allows for a lot of musical fantasy. It
is very intuitive for rhythmic.
3) Korg M1
Nuclear bomb!! My favorite synth I think. This was used often or deep
house in 90 years until today. The organ sound and piano are
timeless . There will always be used in 100 years time!
4) Fender Rhode
Classic! This electric piano is incredible, much used for jazz, soul,
and funk, It is EXTREMELY useful for house music. For example, if you
put a phaser on this piano chords , you go in the 4th dimension!
5) SSL X-Rack Stereo Bus Compressor or plugin.
I use this compressor (plugin) for all my tracks. I insert it in the
bass master of my mixer. It allows you to equalize the final mix with
incredible finesse. With this, the track sounds perfectly fine, but be
aware, it should not be too compressed , otherwise you lose whole
dynamic sound of your track...
