London based DJ, vocal techniques graduate and accomplished pianist Francesca Lombardo is far from a newcomer to the electronic music world despite her recent leap to recognition via Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels crew. Initially going under the alias Jackie Misfit and DJ’ing at underground clubs and parties throughout London as well as running her own imprint Echolette Records; her success as Misfit saw her catch the ear of Damian Lazarus in 2011 who swiftly snapped up her potential and signed her to his label and agency. An accomplished DJ who has played this year’s biggest music events including Miami WMC, Sonar and Secret Garden Party, her technique in the studio is not to go unnoticed either. Francesca’s productions are rife with feeling and emotion, tinged with her own vocals and ever changing in inspiration. This month her 4 track EP on Crosstown Rebels is to be released including the beautiful ‘Sofiel’ which MEOKO have fallen in love with since first hearing it at Sonar in June. ...wake up early in the morning! I am a night person and as much as I like the sun and the light I still love the night and especially work better at night in studio. I never promise anyone I’ll wake up early to meet them or to go for a breakfast... I might just go for a lunch instead.
When I'm playing records...
...I like to look in front of me and see the dance floor enjoying it! I love to dance as if I was a member of the crowd!
On my last day on earth...
...I'll be sitting on a fence, waiting for the end trying to slow time down and living my last moments to the fullest! It could be really exciting...breath slowly and boom...the end!
My dream line up...
...ufff, I love many different styles of music. Piano is my favourite instrument so I would go for Yann Tiersen who is able to give me so many emotions, to follow my favourite bass guitarist soloist Jaco Pastorius, Solvent for sure, Ray Charles cause he is unique, lovely Nico with her ash and real voice and to end One Taste Collective, which I’ll be seen this weekend at Secret Garden Party Festival.. !!! YES
I never leave home without...
...my keys, actually I have done many times and that is why I don’t do it anymore. Ha!ha! Once I lived opposite the fire brigades and they used to know me pretty well for having to break in my house to let me in ;-)
My biggest musical aspiration...
...is to compose music for an electronic orchestra. It has always been my dream...to fuse the two things I love the most ...the power of an orchestra with electronic music...
